Keti Koti: de ketenen verbroken

Op 30 juni en 1 juli 2026 vindt voor de tweede keer een tweedaags Keti Koti evenement in Venlo plaats, met daarnaast een randprogramma van 16 juni t/m 29 juni 2026. Dit is het moment waarop we het slavernijverleden herdenken en de afschaffing ervan vieren.

Door middel van verhalen uit onze gedeelde geschiedenis, muziek, theater, film, spoken word, rituelen en traditionele hapjes creëren we samen wederom een betekenisvolle ruimte voor reflectie en verbinding. Zie het volledige programma hieronder.

Keti Koti Venlo is gratis toegankelijk en aanmelden is niet nodig, met uitzondering van WAT! for Dinner op 29 juni in Grenswerk Café. Klik hier voor tickets.

23 juni – De Nieuwe Scene (Nieuwstraat 13)

20:00 – 21:20: vertoning documentaire Bagasi, wat we meedragen incl. Q&A o.l.v. Cedric Kenti met maker Emma Lesuis.

 

29 juni – Grenswerk Café (Peperstraat 10)

18:00 – 20:00: WAT! for Dinner Keti Koti editie met spoken word van Abeniba Kwasibita begeleid door Lucy Witteman op de Apinti (drum). Chefs: Lucia Zenani Francis i.s.m. Resto VanHarte.

Keti Koti: breaking the chains

On June 30 and July 1 2026 a two-day Keti Koti event will take place in Venlo for the second time, accompanied by a side program from June 16 to June 29 2026. This is the moment we commemorate the history of slavery and celebrate its abolition.

Through stories from our shared history, music, theatre, film, spoken word, rituals and traditional snacks we once again create a meaningful space for reflection and connection. See the full program below.
